Cancelled-A Day in the Country - Charity Event

On behalf of Neil and Jenny Summerson, the Fassifern Valley Rotary Club, all our volunteers and myself, it is with regret that we must advise you that the multi marque charity event - A Day in the Country - must be cancelled for 2020.

Obviously, we are devastated by the decision of Queensland Health, but we cannot break the law.

The directive from Queensland Health on the 2nd of October stated that on private property, no matter the size of the property, from 1st of November it would rise to just 40 people.

We had over 240 vehicles and over 460 people registered for this event.

We have tried unsuccessfully to have Queensland Health relax their ruling for this event as we have:

A multi page COVID safe plan with all boxes ticked.
We have 2 x COVID Marshalls appointed to be there on the day.
We have contact tracing on every person who registered for this event
We were going to distribute for each person to complete before arriving on the day, to be handed in to a COVID Marshall before being allowed to enter the private property, a signed completed personal COVID Declaration.

The saddest thing is that with the support of many car clubs, volunteers and motoring enthusiasts attending on the day, we were on target to raise nearly $10K to give to the Fassifern Valley Rotary Club. This would have allowed essential food vouchers to be distributed to the local traders in the Scenic Rim, who know the people who have been affected by this COVID pandemic and allow these affected people to have some financial relief in the purchasing of essential items.

We had purchased the day before the Ipswich COVID breakout, the multi prize raffle prizes from the funds car clubs had donated. We also had people from car clubs who had personally donated raffle prizes and food to be sold on the day.

Please mark Sunday 29th August 2021 as the day for next year's A Day in the Country and we look forward to welcoming you on the day.
